LEIGHTERTON PRIMARY SCHOOL PTFA EVENT UPDATE - 27th January 2012
PTFA News from Helen Turner, Chair
I’m going to start where I left off last week and that is with the (now) Easter disco with Dizzy Feet. I had said that it was the Thursday before the Easter holidays but, in fact, what I should have said was it is a Thursday before the holidays as I managed to get a little confused and booked it a week early!
However, to avoid further confusion the date of the 22nd March still stands! (Especially once I found out that Dizzy Feet weren’t available on the 29th anyway and Mrs Kiss didn’t mind which week the disco was held.) I hope that the timing of the booking doesn’t put anybody off as it would be great to have as many children turn up as possible to give us their opinion of the new DJ.
Now I’m going to logically move onto the forthcoming events in a more chronological order:
Pancake Cafe
- On Tuesday 21 February we will be hosting our usual pancake cafe in the school hall. This event will run from 2.30pm onwards to allow those children who will be going home on the bus the opportunity to attend the cafe before leaving school. At 3pm the cafe will be open to all the other children. We know that in the past this has been a very popular event so we will be preparing lots of pancakes and Mrs Kiss is kindly supplying lots of interesting toppings – please do come and join us for this event.
Mothers’ Day gifts
- Once again (to relieve the disappointment for Mums who are hoping that Dad will organise their children and to relieve the pressure on Dad to step up to the mark) we are organising Mothers’ Day gifts for the children to choose at school. Tricia Evans has, as ever, done a fantastic job of sourcing some lovely gifts at a bargain price. The gifts will cost £2 each and a letter will go out to each child asking for payment if they want to join in with this scheme. The children will be shown the gifts during an assembly on the 8th March and, following their selections, the gifts will be wrapped and then presented to the children on Friday 16th March in time for Mother’s Day on the Sunday. The PTFA don’t make any significant money from this event, it is really provided as a service to Mums (and Dads) and the children enjoy choosing their gifts independently and genuinely being able to give their beloved Mum a surprise so we hope that everyone will want to utilise this service again as they have in previous years.
Easter Disco
- Easter Disco to be held on Thursday 22nd March – see above!
Table Top Sale
- On Saturday 24th March we will be holding a table top sale in Didmarton Village Hall from 10am – 12.30pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to clear out your house of the clothes, toys, books etc. that you and/or your children have grown out of and to pass them onto to somebody who now wants them. The idea is that if you have enough ‘stuff’ can buy a table for £10 and you can sell on your goods and make a surplus that you pocket. Alternatively, the PTFA will also be running a stall so if you only have a few bits and pieces that you want to get rid of the PTFA will happily accept your donation and attempt to sell it to add to our own funds. Of course for this event we want lots of people purchasing their own tables, lots of PTFA donations and lots and lots of people coming along on the day looking for a bargain! Please do mark the date in your diary and start looking around your house and garages for items that would help clear some space at your end but that somebody else might love at the other end! Over the coming weeks I will provide more information about this event and the details of who you should contact if you or your friends would like a table or to pass on donations for the PTFA table.
